If you are now bobbing your head to the corresponding Eminem song that matches those words, give yourself a pat on the back. Aren't you thrilled to learn we have similar taste in music? I mean what suburban, SUV driving mom of four doesn't rock out to Eminem, right? Don't answer that.
So yes, after a LONG LONG time, i am knocking the dust off this blog and going to fill your screen with the ramblings of an over worked, slightly quirky, mom of quads. There are a few other choice descriptions i came up with for myself that would work to. Such hits as germ hating, schedule worshiping, two job balancing, sarcasm throwing, ex Hooters working, whip cream food fighting, list making, inappropriate speaking, make up hating, overwhelmed mother of 4 year old quadruplets.
If you got any of those above references, you are either a long time blog reader (virtual high five to you) or may have seen me recently on a little show called "Texas Multi Mamas" on WeTV. Either way, thanks for knowing me so well.
The last time i blogged was after my annual quad mom trip with 15 of my favorite people on this planet! The love i have for these ladies can not be described. We are like sisters. Warms my heart just thinking about them. Well that was about 8 months ago so i will do my best to catch you up on all the "going ons" of our little Gerwer family. But ill be honest, I don't have an extra 12 spare hours right now to catch you up all at once, so it will be bit by bit. But it will happen... oh yes, it will.
For those of you new to the blog, I will have to catch you up quickly. Because unless you are bored, have tons of time and want to read the last four years of my journaling from my pregnancy to present, ill give you the short version. I am what some may say a little different, over protective, mildly controlling when it comes to my kids. I feel the need to show you just one example of why...
On a completely serious note...This is me, holding Reid, when she weighed 1 lb 12 oz at 6 days old (first time they allowed me to hold her). At this moment, in this chair, their doctor whom i trust with all my heart, stood there and said "you and Robbie's only job now is to protect these miracles, because they truly are miracles". And that is what we did. And will ALWAYS do. Its hard for people to understand my fear of germs or my need to control my kids environment but that is what i was instantly conditioned to do when i looked down at these tiny, unreal bodies of the four strongest people i have ever met (and the coolest part is they are OURS, OMG we are so blessed). If you want to see more from this time in our lives, check out this blog post or go back to early 2008, when our kiddos were born. It will help many people understand why i am how i am.
Alrighty, now that we cleared that up, lets start with summer 2011. And a HOT summer it was! So many cool things happened, like 3 out of the 4 learned to swim on their own. SO AMAZING! Guess who's holding out? Anyone?
Here is a glimpse of our family this summer....
First, for those who missed it... the Mavs became NBA Champs! We couldnt be more proud, neither could our dogs Dallas & Maverick. Over 10 years ago, Robbie and I had our first date at a Mav's game and the rest is history. So the kids had to have their picture made while screaming "DDDDDIIIIIRRRRKKKKKKKKK". Naturally.
Another sign of earlier this year, the phenomenon planking...yep, i was one of those people who thought it was HILARIOUS! So did my kids apparently. When i showed them how to do it, they cracked up laughing. Cameron is seen taking it quite seriously. That a girl Cam, just like your mommy!!!
Every year our kids and us walk/ride in our neighborhoods Fourth of July parade. Its so fun and OOOOHHHH so hot! This year they rode their tricycles through the parade almost the whole way! Thanks to my sis in law, Amy and mother in law, Janet for helping us with man on man defense during the festivities!
Stopping to enjoy the parade. Who are we kidding we were stopping to let all the big kids by, we were slowing up traffic!
Highlight of the day, sitting in a fire truck. So awesome!
Daddy enjoying a sweaty hug and some water with the foursome. Nothing says lets enjoy the heat like a good cuddle!
Reid and Levi (one of our best friends super sweet sons) after a good swim. Aww what a cute couple!
Trey armed with these squirt guns that were my nemesis this summer. I love my in laws but they should have kept these in their pool. This boy has quite the aim when mommy is dressed in white shorts ready to go out with her friends and runs outside to say by to daddy. Yep, that happened.
Awww sweet Reid. While this girl is BY FAR my biggest challenge lately, her cute face makes it so hard to be mad. As Robbie has said to me right after she cried because she got sent to time out.. "with that face, its so unfair for us". :) Sweet Daddy's girl! You've come a long way teeny tiny!
My diva, my mini me. This girl can walk into any room and entertain the masses. Shes got a spark about her that everyone just loves. Lets see how much i love this spark when shes 14!
My four outside one of my BFF's houses, Amy-Jo.
So sweet, love this pic, my kids with the Sather kids! Melt my heart!
So much more to share but for now i must sleep. I PROMISE (and mean it this time), to not leave you hanging and to come back. I will post about Robbie & I in Chicago, family photo shoot, Starting school, Halloween, Christmas and of course, Texas Multi Mamas!
I would like to thank you all right now for all your support with Texas Multi Mamas. It was a pretty crazy time for us and I don't think you ever get used to seeing yourself on TV. Short lived as it was, it was an experience like none other and we have met some of the most AMAZING people and fans of the show! You guys are so sweet and hearing your stories of motherhood too have been so amazing! Thank you for letting us monopolize your TV's for Tuesday evenings for a bit. It means a lot to us!
